Art in Education. Art for Education
Art is often overlooked in today's schools and is sometimes marginalized as an elective course at best. We believe that art is extraordinarily important for the development of several psychological, physical, and cognitive functions in children.
THE IMPORTANCE OF DRAWING
Drawing at an early age helps children tune their motor skills. By grasping and controlling the drawing media children build the neural networks that are crucial for fine muscular control, hand-eye coordination, and tactile sensativity. Drawing also fosters imaginative and problem-solving abilities for the child, as well as providing an expressive outlet. Apart from the well-being on the child, drawing also opens up other avenues for learning and knowledge enrichment. Drawing can accompany scientific inquiry, conceptual modeling, language acquisition, and many other fields.
ART TO ENCOURAGE LEARNING
Emperical evidence shows that motivated and well-encouraged children perform better in school and in learning tasks. We believe that coloring pages and quick cartoons are a great way to preface any activity so that the activity becomes more fun and engaging for the student. When you can take a subject and present it to the child in an exciting way then the lessons will become more relevent, more memborable, and more easily learned.
Art in education and art for education provides a critical base for developing, learning, and connecting with the world around us.
ClassroomArts feels very strongly about keeping the arts in education and about using the arts for education. We hope our online library is one step in keeping the arts alive and strong in our schools, and keeping our schools strong in the community.
